2016 Fall Juried Members Exhibition
Exhibition: November 16, 2016 to January 21, 2017
Reception: Saturday November 19 from 2 to 4 pm
The Lowell Art Association, Inc. (LAA) is the oldest incorporated art association in the country. In this year's Fall Juried Members Exhibition, see works from the artist members of the LAA in a range of subjects and mediums. From oils to photographs, seascapes to city streets, experience the world through varying perspectives in this exciting new show.
Jurors Glenn Szegedy and Lynne B. Mehlman selected 70 works from more than 250 submissions by over 110 artist members of the Lowell Art Association, Inc. Judged on such criteria as technique, composition, perspective, and originality, the paintings, sculptures, and photographs featured in the exhibition represent both modernist and traditional methods and aesthetics.
Mehlman is a juried member of the Guild of Boston Artists, the Rockport Art Association & Museum, and the Lowell Art Association, Inc., where she exhibits regularly. She is an artist who has studied under Robert Cormier and David Curtis, and has won numerous awards. She has previously juried for the Boston Guild. Additionally, Mehlman is a member of and participates in regional and international competitions at the International ARC Salon, the Academic Artists Association, the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, the American Artists Professional League, and the Oil Painters of America.
"We were overwhelmed and impressed by the number of fine works that were submitted for this Juried Members Exhibition by our ever-growing artist membership," says President and Executive Director Sara Bogosian. "I believe our viewing audience will be intrigued and elated by the range of works that are a part of this exciting exhibition."
