Meet the Whistler House Museum of Art's February Artist of the Month:

Michele Boll

Michele is a graduate of Brandeis University and holds an MA from Tufts University. She has studied painting under renowned Boston School artist Henry Schwartz at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. Her work has been exhibited in many galleries and museums including the Rose Art Museum, the Decordova Museum, and the Whistler House Museum of Art. Michele is a past recipient of an Artist Fellowship from the Massachusetts Council on the Arts and Humanities, now the Mass Cultural Council. In 2016, she was inducted into the National Association of Women Artists. Michele is also a long-time art educator.

The focus of Michele's paintings has always been to create mood and emotion through the use of light and shadow. Her work spans from urban scenes to the suburban, seaside and rural. Locked down during the pandemic, she focused on the unexpected beauty of her Billerica neighborhood. Her still life paintings often have a story behind the subject matter. Sometimes this may simply be ordering take out after a busy day, or a study of a long-time marriage throughout many years. Regardless of the subject matter, the human presence will always be implied.

The WHMA is excited to share with you a collection of Michele's work. If you are interested in purchasing any of these paintings, contact the Whistler House Museum of Art at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call
