Whistler Park photo by Jim Higgins

Welcome to the Whistler House Museum of Art, the birthplace of America’s premiere 19th Century Artist, James McNeill Whistler. Established in 1908 as the permanent home of the Lowell Art Association, the museum has been in continuous operation since that time. Founded in 1878, the Lowell Art Association is the oldest incorporated art association in the United States. The association owns and operates the historic site which houses a permanent collection of 19th and early 20th century American representational art.

The statue of James McNeill Whistler in Whistler Park, next to the museum (above) was sculpted by Mico Kaufman, recepient of the James McNeill Whistler Distinguished Artist Award 2010. To watch the video presentation highlighting Kaufman's career on YouTube follow this link.
